Oracle’s timeline

Four releases. The first squeeze comes in 2027.

Oracle hasn’t published calendar dates. NetSuite names releases by year, so 2027.1 is the first release of 2027.

2026.2
NOW

2.1 becomes the standard for new and existing scripts. Find the scripts that need updating and plan the work.

2027.1
FIRST 2027 RELEASE

SuiteScript 1.0 support drops to critical issues only. For anything else, Oracle will ask you to convert the script to 2.1 first.

2028.1
FIRST 2028 RELEASE

2.0 and 2.x scripts run as 2.1 by default. Untested scripts run as 2.1 for the first time.

2028.2
THE DEADLINE

Every script must be on 2.1, new and existing, to keep working.

What’s at stake

Why it can’t wait for 2028

Custom scripts often run the parts of NetSuite your business built for itself: approvals, integrations, scheduled jobs. When a script stops working, the process it runs stops with it.

Support narrows in 2027.1

A 1.0 script that needs Oracle’s help, short of a critical issue, has to be converted first. The process it runs can stay broken until then.

Controls can slip

A script that enforces an approval or a validation rule can quietly stop enforcing it.

Fixes happen under pressure

A rewrite while the process is down, maybe without the person who built the script.

All scripts need to be updated to 2.1 to keep working. ORACLE NETSUITE, ON RELEASE 2028.2 · SUITEANSWERS 1047412

Questions

Is this checklist from Oracle?

No. DataOngoing wrote it from Oracle’s public notice, SuiteAnswers 1047412 (last updated 09/16/2026). Oracle’s dates and instructions are marked as Oracle’s; the step-by-step how is ours. It isn’t produced or endorsed by Oracle.

When is 2027.1?

Oracle hasn’t published calendar dates. NetSuite names releases by year, so 2027.1 is the first release of 2027.

Does this apply to client scripts?

Yes. Every script has to be on 2.1 by 2028.2. Oracle’s test preferences cover server scripts only, so the checklist shows how to test client scripts separately.

Do I need a developer to use it?

Not to start. Phase 1, listing every script that isn’t on 2.1, needs no code. Converting 1.0 scripts does need development work.
